An object of 'shared similitude' was chosen - a plate of Sushi - which was to become the 'portal' moment of transport from one environment to another. Each time the Sushi is reached the environments swap screens with LA on one side and Kyoto on the other. The 'object' that is passing is the camera, but notionally it is the temporal condition between the two spaces.
